Drive-In
Racking

The highest-density way to store large volumes of the same product. Forklifts drive straight into the lane, no aisles between every bay, so you fit far more pallets in the same floor area.

Density
Very high, minimal aisle loss
Rotation
FILO, or FIFO as drive-through
Best for
Large volumes of the same SKU
Product details

Maximum pallets, minimum floor

Drive-in racking removes the aisles between bays so your forklift drives directly into the rack to place and retrieve pallets.

It's the right system when you store large volumes of the same product and want to use every square metre. Pallets are arranged into a cubic block, so many wide, so many deep, so many high, and retrieved in the order they went in. Engineered and built to Australian Standard AS 4084.

Very High Density

Far more pallet positions per square metre than selective racking.

Drive-In or Drive-Through

Single-entry against a wall (FILO) or drive-through for FIFO rotation.

Standard Forklifts

Works with counterbalanced or reach forklifts, no specialty equipment needed.

Heavy-Duty Build

Robust guide rails, connectors and heavy-duty floor brackets for tough use.

Cold Storage Ready

Ideal for cold storage with high turnover and limited space.

Designed for Purpose

Each system is engineered around your pallets, volumes and building.

How it works

Built as a cubic block

The system

Key characteristics

Layout
Arranged into a cubic system: X pallets wide × Y pallets deep × Z pallets high. Pallets sit on continuous guide rails inside each lane.
Stock rotation
  • FILO (First In, Last Out) when positioned against a wall as single-entry drive-in.
  • FIFO (First In, First Out) when set up as a drive-through system.
Retrieval
Pallets are retrieved in the order they were entered, which is why it suits large volumes of a single SKU rather than mixed, fast-changing stock.
Forklifts
Counterbalanced or reach forklifts. No specialty handling equipment required.
Components
Specialised heavy-duty parts, robust pallet guide rails, connectors and floor brackets.
Flexibility
Technical design process with minimal reconfiguration after install, it's designed for a specific purpose, so we get the brief right up front.
Is drive-in right for you? If you store lots of pallets of the same product and floor space is tight, drive-in usually wins. If you need access to many different SKUs at once, selective or double-deep may suit better, tell us your stock profile and we'll advise honestly.

AS 4084 Compliant

Designed and built to standard.

Maximum Density

The most pallets per square metre.

Cold Store Suited

Great for high-turnover cold storage.

Standard Forklifts

No specialty equipment to buy.

FAQs

Common questions

When should I choose drive-in over selective racking?
Choose drive-in when you store large volumes of the same product and want maximum density in limited space. Selective racking is better when you need independent access to many different SKUs. A good rule: few SKUs, high volume → drive-in; many SKUs, frequent picking → selective.
What's the difference between drive-in and drive-through?
Drive-in is single-entry, usually against a wall, and runs First In, Last Out (FILO). Drive-through is open both ends so you load one side and pick the other, running First In, First Out (FIFO). We'll recommend the right one based on your building and stock rotation.
What forklifts do I need?
Standard counterbalanced or reach forklifts work, no specialty handling equipment required, which keeps your running costs down compared with some other high-density systems.
Is it good for cold storage?
Yes, drive-in is ideal for cold and freezer storage with high turnover and limited space, because it packs the most pallets into expensive refrigerated floor area.
Can it be changed after installation?
Drive-in is a more technical, purpose-built design with limited reconfiguration after install. That's why we spend time on the brief up front, getting your pallet sizes, volumes and flow right before we build.
